Do not administer to animals hyperallergic to one of the product components. Overall the product is well tolerated. Intolerance reactions may rarely occur ‚requiring discontinuation of specific therapeutic measures. Side effects that may occur, especially after prolonged treatment are: burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hiperticozis, acne eruptions, hypopigmentation, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection skin atrophy. Clorostatic – otic solution should be administered with caution in young cats and puppies and to females during pregnancy. Cats are more susceptible than dogs at product overdose because in cats the half-life of chloramphenicol is higher. Chloramphenicol is antagonist acting with penicillin ampicillin influencing their antibiosis mechanism.
The antimicrobial activity of chloramphenicol is lower in formulations containing viscosity agents such as methylcellulose, tragacanth, sodium alginate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, surfactants capable of forming micelles for example polysorbate 80; dust absorbing as veegum, starch, bentonite.
Store at temperatures below 25 ° C, protected from light.
