Broad spectrum anti-diarrheic and antimicrobial

 

COMPOSITION

250 mg tablet contains:

Active substances: Metronidazole 50 mg; Oxytetracycline  hydrochloride 30 mg; Furazolidone 10 mg; Bismuth subnitrate 10 mg;

Excipients (lactose, starch, PVP K30, CMC, aerosil, talcum powder, avicel, magnesium stearate) ad 250 mg

 

PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION

Metronidazole acts preventively and curatively against flagellated protozoa and Serpulina hyodisenteriae.

Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic action against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.

Furazolidone is a chemotherapeutic compound with bacteriostatic action mainly against Salmonella spp. and Escherichia coli.

 

TARGET SPECIES

Dogs, cats, minks, ferrets, cage birds and flight cage birds (racing and ornamental pigeons, canaries, parrots, peacocks, ornamental pheasants)

INDICATIONS

Prevention (for diagnosed animals) and treatment of primary and secondary enteropathies induced by active substance-sensitive bacteria and flagellate protozoa infections.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or excipients. Do not use Enteroguard M in young birds under the age of 4 weeks.

METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION

In dogs, cats, minks and ferrets the curative treatment consists in 1 tablet/3 kg of body weight/day, for 5 – 7 consecutive days.

In curative treatment of cage birds and flight cage birds, the product is administered as powder incorporated in the fodder after grinding, wetting and mixing with sugar, ½ tablet/1.25 kg body weight/day, and ¼ tablet for 0.5 – 0.6 body weight/day, respectively, for 5 -6 consecutive days.

The antistress and preventive treatments are applied using half the curative doses mentioned above.

 

WARNINGS

Use the product based on isolated bacteria sensitivity testing.

Do not use in the first pregnancy trimester.

Use during lactation based on risk – benefit ratio performed by a veterinarian.

Do not use at the same time with aluminum-based antacids or with preparations containing Ca, Mg or Fe, due to chelating reactions with tetracycline.

Take into consideration the national and local antimicrobial regulations when using the product.
