Pyrantel pamoate is poorly absorbed in the intestine. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 2 or 3 hours. It is rapidly metabolized and it is removed at a rate of 35- 50%, mostly in the feces, being most active against the parasites in the large intestine.

Because of its cholinergic action (nicotinic type) it is not recommended to be associated with parasympathomimetic substances and organophosphorus compounds.
